Class Descriptions
AutoCAD 2005 Update
Course Length: 6 hours
Prerequisites: A working understanding of AutoCAD 2002
Main Topics Include: Interface Changes, Annotation and Productivity Enhancements, Plotting Enhancements, Xref Enhancements, CAD Management Tools
This course introduces the new features of AutoCAD 2004 to users of AutoCAD 2002. The changes in this new release of AutoCAD cover a wide range, from the visible interface to the files format, from the new Tool Palettes window to powerful CAD management tools. Based on requests from AutoCAD users, the improvements focus especially on ease of use, teamwork, performance and management. This course is presented in two modules. Module 1 covers basic changes that will affect most AutoCAD users. Module 2 includes more specialized topics, such as changes to the CAD Standards tools and the new Reference Manager utility.
AutoCAD 2005 Level 1
Course Length: 15 hours
Prerequisites: Basic Knowledge in the use of Microsoft Windows Applications
Main Topics Include: Create a Simple Drawing, Making Your Drawings More Precise, Drawing Organization and Information, Creating More Complex Objects, Preparing to Print, Annotating Your Drawing, Productivity Tools, Creating and Organizing Blocks, Drawing Setup and Utilities, Drawing Objects
Upon completion of AutoCAD® 2004 Level 1, the student will be able to create a basic 2D drawing using drawing and editing tools, organize drawing objects on layers, add text and basic dimensions, and prepare to plot. For maximum flexibility, the course is divided into two parts, the first presenting essential skills, the second covering more sophisticated techniques for drawing setup and productivity. The two parts combined fulfill the requirements for AutoCAD Level 1.
AutoCAD 2005 Level 2
Course Length: 21 hours
Prerequisites: AutoCAD 2005 Level 1 or six months AutoCAD Experience
Main Topics Include: Productivity Tools, Advanced Object Types, Advanced Blocks and Attributes, Referencing and Sharing Information, Layouts and Plotting, Drawing Standards and System Setup, Introduction to Customization
For Students comfortable with the basics of creating an AutoCAD drawing as taught in AutoCAD 2004 Level 1, this course focuses on: using efficiency tools including grips and advanced object selection; drawing with complex objects including polylines, regions and multilines; defining blocks and attributes; using external reference files and image files; using layouts and advanced plotting features; and enhancing productivity with simple customization of AutoCAD.
AutoCAD Customization
Course Length: 15 hours
Prerequisites: AutoCAD Level 2 Training or equivalent understanding of AutoCAD
Main Topics Include: Customization Fundamentals, Creating Toolbars, Menu Basics, Pull-Down Menus and Image Menus, DIESEL
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to turn the generic AutoCAD program into a customized package that will maximize the productivity of a specific organization. Topics include customizing for productivity, toolbars and macros, menu customization and the DIESEL string expression language. This class meets the Autodesk Level III curriculum standards.
Architectural Desktop 2004 Level 1
Course Length: 15 hours
Prerequisites: AutoCAD Level 1 or equivalent experience in AutoCAD 2000 - 2004
Main Topics Include: Floor Plans, Design Content and Viewing Tools, Specialty Objects, Floors and Roofs, Elevations - Sections and Perspectives, Documentation
This course will enable students to create basic floor plans, including walls, doors, and windows, use Design Content to add furniture, fixtures, and equipment, create specialty objects like column & ceiling grids, stairs, and roofs, generate elevations and sections, add marks, dimensions, tags, and schedules; understand the 3D capabilities of Architectural Desktop.
Architectural Desktop 2004 Level 2
Course Length: 21 hours
Prerequisites: Architectural Desktop 2004 Level 1 or equivalent
Main Topics Include: Creating massing studies with mass elements and mass groups, Using spaces and areas to develop a building design, Using advanced wall and curtain wall tools, Managing drawings with projects, Defining multi-view blocks and masking blocks, Creating styles for AEC objects, Customizing layer properties and the display system
Upon completion of the class, the student will be able to construct conceptual massing studies using mass elements and mass groups; design buildings using spaces and areas; create an ADT project and use Project Navigator to manage drawings; define multi-view blocks, masking blocks, and customized design content; use advanced editing tools for walls and curtain walls; create wall, window, door, and other object styles; and customize layer properties and display systems.

Retake Policy
Students have the option of retaking the class. Please note the following stipulations:
Retakes must be taken advantage of within six months.
If the class was software version specific, the retake may only be taken for that version of software.
Space must be available. Please call to confirm.
Student must bring courseware supplied with the original class.
Training Cancellations and Refunds
Cancellations received up to five working days before the class is refundable, minus a $25 registration service charge. There are no refunds for cancellations within 5 days of start date; however PolarCAD will apply this fee for a future course. Please note: If you don't cancel and don't attend, you are still responsible for payment.
Other Terms
PolarCAD reserves the right to cancel or reschedule any classes. A minimum of 3 students must be enrolled to hold a class. PolarCAD must approve students for courses who do not meet our prerequisites. Classroom training is done on current software version only. If you require training on an earlier version, please call for details on our Custom Training. For off site training the customers' responsibilities include per diem expenses for travel, lodging and meals. PolarCAD will fax a confirmation on receipt of the class registration form and full payment. Please notify us at time of registration if arrangements have to be made for any disabilities. |
